Minneapolis and Portland

A summary of quite a nice set of articles from this blog, with some additions. Here is what Portland sports:
- Can’t fill your own gas. NJ and OR don’t let you fill your own car. Actually it’s nice when it is raining (aka winter time).
- Wine and beer in gas stations and grocery shops. Every day of the week, 24hr a day.
- Half-size downtown blocks. Nice for walking, nice for developers (twice the number of corner lots).
- Apartments with Recycling. Saving the human habitat.
- Fred Meyer and Trader Joes. Nice shops, low prices.
- No Mosquitos. Apparently the MN unofficial state “bird” does not like it here.
- Municipal WI-FI – Free and clear. It failed for many cities, but not for Portland.
- Rain more than half of the year. Trade your snow showel for an umbrella.
- Lower taxes, worse public schools. These two are directly connected.
- Gay lying mayors.Other cities just have lying ones.
- Spring that last 2 months. Not 2 weeks. And it blooms till late fall.
- Snow is 1 hr to the east. In case you are missing it on your driveway.
