iPhone security

Looks like Apple treats security of their device rather weakly. Just looking at the iphone (in)security blog reveals many ways to mess with it, starting from a simple abuse of the built-in screenshot app and the keylogger (yeah, its part of the iPhone OS), down to bypassing the encryption and password protection. Add to that a very long (from a security prospective) patch release cycle, lasting months, and you get a (very) insecure device. And that solely in Apple’s own code, not the 3rd party apps controlled through the appstore dictatorship. Afterall appstore’s DRM signature control is all about protecting Apple’s income channels, and very litte about security or the end-user access to best available applications. As it turns out,  jailbreaking your phone can actually improve security, as you to get the latest security patches when there are needed, not when Apple gets to do them.
